Our Basket - Hand Made
Premium-quality commodities for international markets.
Our hand‑woven baskets are made using traditional methods that have been passed down through generations of artisans. We use eco‑friendly materials such as seagrass, jute, kans grass, date leaf and palm leaf—renewable fibres that are biodegradable and have a small carbon footprint. Each basket is woven by hand with careful attention to detail, resulting in one‑of‑a‑kind pieces that celebrate natural beauty and craftsmanship.
Materials & Customisation
We specialise in natural fibres such as seagrass, jute, kans grass, date leaf, palm leaf and water hyacinth. Jute baskets are breathable, durable and biodegradable, while seagrass and kans grass offer strength and a warm, rustic finish. Custom options include dyed colours, woven patterns, handles or lids, and branded labels. Our in‑house design team can create mood boards, colour stories and prototypes to match your target market and trend direction.
Craftsmanship
Eco Ville BD’s Hand Made baskets are woven by trained women artisans using traditional techniques. Each basket is carefully crafted by hand, ensuring unique character and artisanal quality. The process celebrates the heritage of hand weaving and the natural beauty of eco‑friendly fibres.
Features & benefits
- 1. Natural, sustainable materials – Hand‑made baskets are woven from renewable fibres such as seagrass and jute. These materials are biodegradable and environmentally responsible. Jute in particular is a tough, breathable fibre that resists wear and is completely natural.
- 2. Authentic craftsmanship – Because each piece is woven by hand, slight variations in colour and texture make every basket unique. This authenticity adds warmth and character to home décor.
- 3. Versatility in design – Our hand‑made baskets come in different shapes and sizes, from small organisers to large storage hampers. Their natural colour can be left unbleached or dyed to suit décor, and many styles include lids or decorative patterns. They are perfect for holding fruits, vegetables, linens, craft supplies, toys or decorative plants.
- 4. Durable & long‑lasting – Tight weaving and resilient fibres ensure that natural baskets can withstand heavy loads and daily use. When properly cared for, they last for years and age beautifully.
- 5. Healthier living – Natural fibres do not emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs) or synthetic smells and create a healthier indoor environment.
- 6. Supporting artisans – Purchasing our hand‑woven baskets helps preserve traditional craft skills and supports rural artisans and their families. By empowering women artisans, we contribute to the socio‑economic development of marginalised communities.
Production Capacity & Lead Time
We have a network of over 2 500 artisans and operate our own workshops to ensure consistent quality. Our production capacity for hand‑made baskets is 55 000 pieces per 60–90‑day production cycle (with variations depending on design complexity). Lead times are typically 60–90 days from order confirmation, including sample approval. Every order is carefully tracked from development through to final shipment to ensure timely delivery.
Quality Assurance
We work closely with artisans to maintain uniform quality standards. Raw materials are sourced responsibly, and each basket is inspected during and after production. Our quality assurance team monitors weaving technique, size consistency, colourfastness and finishing. Customer feedback is highly valued to continually improve our designs and processes.
